She moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1991 and made her home with daughter Becky and son-in-law, James 'Jim' Cato, until taking an apartment in The Atrium in 2013. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and its Women's Circle, Bible Study, and Bridge groups until failing eyesight limited her activities. Her positive, outgoing, and generous spirit made her a beloved friend to many, including her new companions at The Atrium. She loved her new life in beautiful Gainesville and remained delighted at making all her new friends here.
She traveled often with family with frequent stays with daughter Betty in Vero Beach, Florida and The Bahamas, daughter Louise in Austin, Texas, and daughter Joyce in Houston. She often joked that she didn't know where she lived; she just waited until her daughters told her where she was going. Rebecca always had a spirit of adventure whether it was fishing the reefs off Spanish Key, Bahamas, tubing the Itchetucknee, touring Hawaii, or cruising the Panama Canal. She was the strength and constant source of encouragement, healing, and hope for all her family.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; her parents, Eva Elizabeth Flukinger Anderson and John Homer Anderson; her granddaughter, Mary L. Phillips; and sons-in-law: J. Michael Morrow, Sr., Fredrick J. Prochaska, and Hubert Pippin. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce Nystrom Phillips Frassanito (John 'Jack' R. Frassanito), Louise Nystrom Biba (Frank Biba), Betty Nystrom Prochaska Pippin, and Rebecca Nystrom Morrow Cato (James C. Cato); grandchildren: Bohn 'Pecos' Phillips, Keith Phillips, Curtis Phillips, Robert Biba, Paul Biba, Michael Biba, Dawn Prochaska Snyder, Fredrick 'Rick' Prochaska, Rebecca Prochaska Colgan, John Michael Morrow and Darrell Morrow; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to gather Monday, March 23, 10:30 AM at The Atrium, 2431 NW 41st St., for a brief memorial celebration. Her family will hold a graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery in Hempstead, Texas. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Trinity United Methodist Church or Haven Hospice of North Central Florida.
