A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in The Nativity of our Lord Church, Spring Valley (Richard A. Mautino Drive location) with the Rev. Robert Spilman officiating.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday in Hurst Funeral Home, Ladd, with prayer services at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be Tuesday in the church from 10 a.m. until services. Cremation will take place after services, and burial of ashes will be at Ladd Cemetery at a later date.
Lee was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Spring Valley to Thomas and Marcella (Chiarella) Lunn.
During his time in high school, Lee was nominated to the State of Illinois All-American Football Team and was later inducted into the High School Hall of Fame for his accomplishments. Lee graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on June 8,1954. At West Point, Lee was the captain of the football team, coached by Earl “Red” Blaik and Vince Lombardi.
On June 12, 1954, in the Village of Ladd, he married Barbara Helen Bird.
He then served in the U.S. Air Force as an instructor pilot at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla., until 1958. Following his service, Lee was vice president of engineering at Conco, Inc. in Mendota and later in Louisville, Ky.
Mr. Lunn was a member of St. Benedict Church in Ladd and its Holy Name Society, Ladd Moose Lodge and Army Athletic Association. He also served on Ladd Grade School Board and Ladd Planning Committee. Lee enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His favorite activities included fishing, hunting, woodworking, cheering for the Packers and spending time with his family.
Mr. Lunn is survived by his wife, Barbara; one son, Peter (Mary) Lunn of Sterling, Va.; two daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Stank of Spring Valley and Lisa Grivetti of Peru; seven grandchildren, Matt Stank, Meghan Lutes, Liz and Tommy Lunn, and Emily, Alexis and Jessica Grivetti; four great-grandchildren, Noah Stank, Carson Leroy Lutes and Ethan and Aiden Swanland.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Geimer; and one brother, Robert Lunn.
