Mark Sisson, 23, 1112 Woodman St., died at 11:17 p.m. Friday following a car crash on County M west of the Rock-Walworth County Line Road.

According to accounts of the accident, Rodney L. Spangler, driver of the vehicle, attempted to negotiate a turn and his car ran onto the shoulder of the road. In an attempt to regain control of the vehicle he apparently over corrected twice and the vehicle hit a guard pole and rolled over several times before coming to a rest on its side. Spangler, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered cuts to his head and right wrist. Sisson, who was not wearing a seat belt, apparently was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over. He suffered a broken neck and head injuries. He died at University Hospital.

Spangler was subsequently issued a ticket for driving while intoxicated.

Sisson was born Aug. 24, 1964 in Janesville. He graduated from Milton High School in 1982. He was an avid sportsman, participating in basketball and softball. He was a member of the 1982 Milton High School basketball team that went to the State Class A tournament and was named to the All Tournament team. He was employed by Seneca Foods as a mechanic.

He is survived by his father, Virgil Sisson of Cumberland; his mother Marilyn of Milton; two brothers, Randy and Scott of Milton; one sister, Brenda of Sun Prairie; his step-mother Jane of Cumberland; one half-sister Angela of Cumberland; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Quade of Milton; one great-grandmother, Edith Hill of Janesville; special friend Denise McCumber of Janesville and aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Wiliford officiating. Burial was in the Milton Cemetery. Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton handled the arrangements.
