Ruth Eleanor Anderson was born December 2, 1919 to Andrew and Eva (Lindell) Anderson in Cedar Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She received her education in rural school in Cedar Township and later at Butterfield school. On April 28, 1943 she was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Schafer at Evangelical Covenant Parsonage in Triumph, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed in Cedar Township until retiring remaining on the farm. Ruth was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont and the Christian Women Ministries. She greatly enjoyed gardening and cooking and visiting with her family and friends.
Ruth died on Friday evening, April 7, 2006 at the Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont, Minnesota at the age of eighty-six years.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Thomas Schafer and his wife, Marijo, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; her daughter, Pamela Hombledal and her husband, Phillip, of New Port Richey, Florida; four grandchildren, Collin Schafer of Englewood, Colorado, Marnie Schafer of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Phil Hombledal of Anaheim, California and Joy Spiegel of New Port Richey, Florida; brother, Marvin Anderson of rural Trimont, Minnesota; sisters, Ellen Bernhardt of St. James, Minnesota, Mildred Ebeling and Theresia Anderson both of Trimont, Minnesota, LaVerne Honnette and Arlene Larson both of Sherburn, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Hildur Anderson of Rochester, Minnesota, Grace Carlson of Fairmont, Minnesota; Carole Schafer of Urbandale,Iowa; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth Schafer on February 1, 1997; sister, Edith Nielsen; brothers, Leonard and Walter Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law and other relatives.
