EDGE, HUGH LEE 83, Birmingham, passed away the morning of Thursday, September 22, 2011, of an aneurysm. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 59 years, Anne, who he met on a blind date while he was attending Auburn University. When she opened the door he said, "You're the woman I'm going to marry" and 3 years later he did. Survivors include: 2 sons, Keith (Sandra) and Mark (Atl., Ga.), Daughter Leigh Anne. Grandchildren: Anastassia Ignatieff, Heather Edge, Brandon and Candice Hoops; Sister Mary Anne Reeves (Floyd) all of Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Edge owned and operated Edge Lumber Company for 35 years. He was a graduate of Georgia Military Academy, Marian Institute and received a degree in forestry from Auburn University. He was an alumnus of the social fraternity Delta Sigma Phi at AU. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany as a cryptographer. He was a member of The Club and a former member of the Poinsettia Men's Club. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 25th at 2 pm at Elmwood Cemetery with visitation from 1-2 pm at Elmwood Chapel. ~ Birmingham News Sept.23-25, 2011
