FRANCIS M. CRANCE, JR., M.D. (FRANK) Passed away May 8, 2007 at his home surrounded by his whole family and dear friends, Irma and Gaylon Mortimer. He died of complications from Multiple Myeloma, which he so gallantly battled for five years. He is survived by his wife, Esther E. Crance, two sons, Frank M. Crance, III (Andrea), Brian E. Crance, Stepdaughters, Amy K. Garza, (Stephen), Julie C. Phillips (Stephen) and Lisa A. Amoroso (Gregory), five grandchildren, Hugh Crance, Hoyt Crance, Catherine Garza, Mary Garza and Samuel Amoroso. He also leaves a sister, Mariam Ferguson (Floyd) and brother, Nelson Crance (Celine) an aunt, Jackie Seldomridge and many nieces and nephews. Frank was born in Stapleton, Virginia on January 7, 1935. His family relocated to Lynchburgh, Virginia where he attended E.C. Glass High School. He then attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in June, 1957 and the degree of Doctor of Medicine on June 4, 1961. He was initiated into the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity in 1957. He passed the State Boards of Medical Examiners of both Virginia, 1961 and California in June, 1966 as a Physician and Surgeon. Upon graduation from Medical School, Frank entered the United States Air Force at Larson AFB, Moses Lake, Washington. He served as a Captain and base Pediatrician. After release from active duty, Frank became a member of the staff of Kaiser Permanente Medical Group, Fontana, California and in 1965 a Partner of the Kaiser Medical Group. After retiring from the Kaiser Medical Group, Frank continued with his favorite past time, reading. He loved history, especially American history and Thomas Jefferson, the founder of his beloved school, The University of Virginia. He love to play bridge, then became very interested in E-Bay and very proud when he became a "Power Seller". Most important to Frank were his family, friends, colleagues, the many patients he saw in the 38 years as a devoted caring physician and his love of life. He will be greatly missed by all. There will be a memorial service Saturday May 26, 2007, 11:00 am at Benedict Castle (Teen Challenge), 5445 Chicago Avenue, Riverside, CA 92507. In memory of Frank, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City of Hope, Duarte, California or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
