Artist. He was born in Valencia, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain. He was one of the most representative members of the artistic avantguard om the 1930s along with his brother, the painter Josep Renau. At young age, he worked as writer for the magazine "Nueva Cultura." During Spanish Civil War, he become an active member of Alliance of Antifascist Intelectuals. He declared: "Before the human life in danger, always I am affected and I left to a side the political connection of the possible victim." After the final of the war, he was forced to exiled with his wife, the artist Elisa Piqueras. He moved to Colombia and later to Mexico. Here, he wrote his book "Pasos y Sombras." In 1952 he returned to Valencia, working as art teacher. When his wife died, he become an introvert man until his death. In his grave, there is no stone, only his name and the date of his death, written by the hand of his gravedigger in the wet cement.
