Together, The Dempseys ministered to the nations through song, dance, and the Word. Their songs have gained international recognition; including the majestic anthem: Glory to the Lamb. In the 70's, they co-hosted a popular television and radio program in Florida. After accepting a ministry staff position, the Dempseys relocated to Southern California where their ministry grew for 8 years. AS time passed, the Dempseys recognized that their ministry was called to reach beyond the walls of the local Church to meet the needs of the greater body of Christ. Together, they recorded songs, toured the nations, and were part of the revival of Prophetic Worship in the Church today.
In 1978 the Dempseys co-labored to bring forth America's premiere worship conference: the International Worship Symposium; which has inspired many other ministers such as LaMar Boschman, Kent Henry, Todd Farley, and countless worship leaders and Christian artists.
In 1990 Joan co-founded Church of the King in south New Jersey, with her husband, where they pastured for 5 years. In January of 1995, Rev. Larry Dempsey went home to be with the Lord. To date, the Church continues in the tradition of their ministry. In 1995 Joan returned to Southern California and lived her son of the heart Todd Farley and his family, from that base she continued her itinerate ministry. In 1997 she took on an associate pastorate with Greg Railey in Columbia, South Carolina where she continued to minister and ministry out from until a year before her passing. In her last months she was pastored by Rev. Gil Belec of Calvary Community Church.
Joan's insightful teaching, artistic gifting in choreography, and anointed Song of the Lord has helped birth dance troupes and singers around the globe. Her practical wisdom and loving heart had made her a Mother in Israel to many artists and churches. To many worshipers born in Zion, Joan was a matriarch, a prophetic voice in the wilderness, and a song in the night.
