He was born December 30, 1938 in Martin, Michigan to Christina (Vander Molen) and Nicholas Scheffler, Sr.
Nick worked for many years at Consumers Grocery Store in Aurora and after retiring her worked at Wal-Mart. He and wife Patsy initiated and served on the committees for the Marionville Applefest and he served on the Marionville City Council. Nick loved sports, especially football and racing, and following the local sports team.
On February 5, 1972, he married Patsy Brown in Denver, Colorado. She preceded him in death June 25, 2006. His father, Nicholas Scheffler, Sr., also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother, Christina Scheffler, Michigan; four children, Kimberly Baer, Nevada, Shelley Godley, Springfield, Lynn Scheffler, Arkansas, Rob Scheffler, Springfield; four step-children, John Brown, Springfield; Russell Brown, Crane; Brad Smerkol, Marionville, Debbie Brown, California; two sisters, Nancy King and Sandy Stuut, both of Michigan, 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
