Edmund James MacDonald was born and raised on Prince Edward Island, Canada on 15 October 1867 as one of six children of Angus and Elizabeth MacDonald.
He was baptized 27 December 1867 at Immaculate Conception, Grand River, Lot 14, Prince County, Prince Edward Island.
He married Mary Matilda MacDonald on 8 May 1899 at Richmond, Prince County, Prince Edward Island and settled at Lot 14, Richmond, Prince County,Prince Edward Island on the family farm and worked the land.

They raised 12 beautiful children including Daniel Archibald MacDonald who was honored for being lost at sea while serving on the Canadian Merchant Ship "Proteus".

Edmund passed away in Halifax,Nova Scotia on 12 October 1954 and was buried at
