Emma Faye Griffey Justus, 95 years of age passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 in Heritage Hall, Grundy, VA. Born December 7, 1919, in Buchanan County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Mary Stacy Griffey.
Emma enjoyed gardening, working in her flower garden and was a member of the Church of Christ. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Justus, daughters Joann Justus Stacy, infant daughter Shelvie Jean Justus; sons Earnest Justus, Howard Justus and Jessie Justus, infant son Raymond Justus; sisters Rosa Collins, Lona Charles, Margie Dotson, brothers Arthur, Jonah, Hassell and George Griffey. She was also preceded in death by five grandchildren including her granddaughter Crystal Stacy in July 19, 2014, and two great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her daughter Nell Hardin of Grundy, VA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Emma Faye Griffey Justus will be conducted at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Evangelist Mike Rife officiating. Burial will follow in the Justus Family Cemetery on Brushy Fork Road, Route 1, Grundy, VA.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Cox, Wesley Hardin, Greg Hardin, Jordan Hardin, Jeff Lester and Nathan Tweed.
Honorary pallbearers will be the nursing staff of Grundy Heritage Hall and Dr. J. G. Patel
