He was born on February 26, 1962 to Mr. Tom Jones and Mrs. Farris Edwards. Marvin was a faithful and dedicated member of Selvia Chapel FWB Church where he served in various capacities, usher, collector and cook. He was also a former Master Mason with the Winterville Masonic Lodge #232. He graduated from D.H. Conley High School in 1981 and entered into the US Marine Corps. After serving 10 years he returned to Greenville, NC. He was employed at Weyerhauser, National Welders and most recently The City of Greenville Transit and also Don Brown Funeral Home.

Marvin had gained many brothers and sisters during his time in the Marine Corps and was a Beirut Veteran (Hotel Co.,3/10).

Marvin married Laura Williams Carmon whom he affectionately called "Bay" on April 7, 1990.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Laura Williams Carmon of the home; sons, Marvin Earl Carmon Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA and Dominique Turnage of Raleigh, NC; parents, Mr. Moses "Tom" Jones of New York and Mr. James Lee and Farris Jean Edwards of Ayden, NC; sisters, Helen Chapman (Alexander), Barbara Newton (Joseph) and Susan Edwards; brother, James Edwards Jr.( Keisha); maternal grandmother, Hattie Washington Carmon.
