He was born on March 7, 1926 in Monterey, Indiana, the son of Elisha and Vada (Morrison) Turner. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. On August 6, 1955 in Norfolk, Virginia, he married Sondra Basham and she survives.
Mr. Turner had been a self- employed Machinist operating Turner Machines for over fifteen years. He had also worked for Torx and Safeway for numerous years. After retirement, he spent many years escorting manufactured homes all across the country. He had been a member of the Rochester Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed working in his yard, garden, workshop and following his beloved Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his wife, Sondra Turner, Rochester, Indiana, children, Jo and husband Philip Pugh, Logansport, Indiana, Bill Turner, Rochester, Indiana, Michael Turner, Mishawaka, Indiana, Robin and husband Ron Lewis, Rochester, Indiana, Patti Burns, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, Remus Shindledecker, Logansport, Indiana, Sondra Burns, Rochester, Indiana, Tommy Burns, Rochester, Indiana, Maggie May Hollar, Argos, Indiana and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Quinton Shindledecker, brother, John Tuner and sister, Gertrude Harmon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday March 12, 2015 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana, with Pastor Don Meyer officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
