Wallace Edward Young was born on August 11, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Joe Trotter Young and Annie Gertrude (Meadows) Young.

He proudly served in the US Army for 5 years during the era of Vietnam, he later drove a truck for Shoney’s and Elm Hill Meats. He was also an advocate for the mental health field and spent much of his life as a caregiver at Centerstone Mental Health Facility.

He was married about 1967 to Gloria Ann Marie Choate (1947-2005), the daughter of Walter Lee Choate (1900–1985) and Polly (Comperry) Choate (1916–1992). He and his wife were foster parents from 1976 until he passed away, and he regularly attended 11th Street Church of Christ.

Wallace was 67 years old and still living in Nashville when he passed away at home on March 10, 2015.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife and by his granddaughter Estelle Ann Marie Young, he is survived by a married son; married daughter; two married brothers; five sisters and three brothers-in-law; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a special niece and nephew; and six foster children.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, and burial was in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
