Maude McKay Abercrombie was born on the old McKay farm on McKay avenue May 14, 1872, and grew to womanhood there. She was a fine Christian woman, a kind and loving wife, devoted to her home, and an active worker in the church until her health was broken by serious illness some years ago. She underwent two serious operations in the past six weeks, at the time of the second operation she was too weak to recover from the shock. During all her years of poor health she was brave and bore her suffering patiently and courageously.
She was united in marriage to Wallace V. Abercrombie on March 22, 1905 at Alexandria, Minnesota. Surviving are her husband, six brothers and three sisters: Will, Rollie, Andrew, Catherine and Florence (Mrs. Lawrence Olson) of Alexandria; Roy of Alberta, Canada; Henry of Spokane, Washington; Sherman of Portland, Oregon; and Elizabeth (Mrs. Roy Glockner) of St. Paul. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Methodist church, and was a very active church member, teaching a Sunday school class of girls and working in the Epworth League from the time she was fourteen years until her marriage when she moved to the country. Her faith never wavered even though stricken by severe illness when still a young woman.
Brief funeral services for the family will be held Friday at 12 o'clock at the Anderson Funeral Home. The remains will be taken to the Methodist church at one o'clock where they will lie in state until 2 o'clock, the hour of the funeral, Rev. Munson officiating. Burial will be in Kinkead cemetery. The pallbearers are Wilbur Schmidt, Albert Allen, Adolph Holmberg, Holger Hanson, Hugh Brown and P. N. Johnson.
