Marian Elizabeth (Nelson) Woetzel was born on November 28, 1931 to Evald and Bertha (Olson) Nelson at Litchfield, Minnesota. At the age of ten, Marian moved to Longville, Minnesota with her family and graduated from Longville High School in 1949.
On August 13, 1950, she married Helmuth Woetzel at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville. They resided in Dassel, Cedar Mills, Brownton and then returned to Dassel. In 1998 Helmuth and Marian moved to Litchfield. Marian enjoyed volunteering her time with the Cub Scouts, being a Cub Scout leader. She helped with the eye and ear screening program for school children. Marian was a Sunday School teacher and had served as Sunday School Superintendent at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel.
After several years of being ill, Marian was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1994. She passed away on July 21, 1999 at her home. She is survived by her husband, Helmuth; five sons, Robert (Nyla) of Hewitt, Minnesota, Ralph (Kathy)of Dassel, Jerome (Sheryl) of Morris, Minnesota, Jonathan (fiancee, Mary) of Dassel, Randy (Tammy) of Edinburg, Virginia, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, mother in law, Gertrude Woetzel of Dassel; three sisters, Lorraine (Paul) Mix of Remer, Minnesota, Beverly Norgard of Brainerd, Minnesota, Ruth (Sheldon) Gustafson of Minneapolis, three brothers, Donald of Cohasset, Minnesota, Jim (Darlene) of Moab, Utah, Bruce (Sherry) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one aunt Myrtle Evinson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, two brothers, Clifton and Wesley, and a great-granddaughter, Ariana.
