John B. Rodgers of Kennett Square

John B. Rodgers, 78, of Kennett Square, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Pembrooke Health and Rehab Center.

He was the widower of the late Gail Anne (McGinnis) Rodgers who passed away in 2010 after 55 years of marriage.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Sarah (Patton) Rodgers Martin and John Rodgers.

He was carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Health and Welfare Union. John was a die hard Phillies fan. He enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his four children: Steven Rodgers (with whom he resided) of Kennett Square, Daniel Rodgers, husband of Paula, of Morgan Hill, Calif., Pamela Chesnet, wife of Michael, of Parkesburg, and Cristine Lester, wife of David, of Mapleton Depot, Pa.; grandchildren, Dan, Steven, Elizabeth, David and Nathan; and siblings, William Rodgers, husband of Nieves, of Florida, and Rita Cole, wife of Jay of Georgia. John was predeceased by siblings Robert Rodgers, Florence Matteson and Rodger Harding. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg followed by interment in the Glen Run Baptist Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
