Al died peacefully after a long struggle with heart disease on September 20, 2014 in Bloomfield Hills surrounded by his family. He was born on January 10, 1928 in Fox Chapel, PA to Louis Artzberger, and Margaret Jerling. He served in the US Army, and then graduated from Thiel College with a BS in Chemistry in 1950. During college he was a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Additionally, he received an Industrial Management Degree from Carnegie Mellon.

Al worked for Pittsburg Paint and Glass for 13 years, and then Dupont Automobile Paint Division, as a sales manager, for 35 dedicated years. In 1952 he married Donna Lee McCandless; Donna and Al were happily married for 62 years and together they raised four children Kimberly, William, Lesa, and George.

Al was particularly known for his unwavering love of his family, his charitable generosity, quick wit, work ethic, positive spirit, and his love of games, particularly golf and cards.

Beloved husband of Donna Lee (nee McCandless) for 62 years. Dear father of Kimberly Lyne (James), William (Suzi), Lesa Lane (Edward), and George (Jo Ann Mitchell). Cherished grandfather of Karlee, Jaimee, Audra, Adam, Emily, and Georgia. Brother of Robert and the late Louis and James.

Memorial service Thursday 11:00am at Kirk in the Hills, 1340 W. Long Lake Rd., Bloomfield Hills.
