Born in Clarendon County in the Panola area near Paxville, she was the daughter of William Thomas Hill and Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" Touchberry Hill of Clarendon County. She was the sister of Lilly J., Sarah, Ruby, Laura and Lucius Franklin Hill. Lucius is buried at Manning Cemetery.

Her husband, W. T. Adams died in Columbia, Richland County, SC in 1903. They were parents of 2 daughters: Ruby J. Adams (1898) and Pearl N. Adams (1901).

Her sister, Laura Hill Chewning (1881 - 1950) is also buried at Sumter Cemetery. It was her husband, W. T. Chewning, who witnessed Lizzie's Certificate of Death.
