Funeral service for Mrs. Laura Mae Battle, 77, of Macon, MS will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Elon Baptist Church in Macon, MS. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Elon Baptist Cemetery Fund, 64 Jackson Drive, Macon, MS 39341. Mrs. Battle was born on November 28, 1937 in Shuqualak, MS to the late Joseph Tilton and Beatrice Daniels Lee and was a lifelong resident of Noxubee County, MS. She graduated from Shuqualak High School and married Robert Freeman Battle on October 6, 1955. She was a member of Elon Baptist Church. Mrs. Battle loved her family and enjoyed taking care of them. She liked baking chocolate cakes, shopping and spa days with her sister, Carolyn. Her most beloved past time was babysitting her great grandson, Aiden. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 2 children: Angela Battle Fincher and Robert Travis Battle as well as by 2 brothers: James Edward Lee and Thomas Calvin Lee.

Mrs. Battle is survived by her two daughters: Nancy Rigdon of Macon, MS and Kathy Edwards (Tommy) of Eupora, MS; and by her two sons Mark Battle (Shirley) of Macon, MS and David Battle (Michelle) of Cedar Bluff, MS; She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Laura Ann Unruh (Josh), Freddie Rigdon, Ashley McBride (Cory), Kristie Glass (Travis), Brandy Wilson (Lance), Lee Battle, Kyle Cooper (Baker), C.J. Fincher, Christina Battle, Robert Battle and Travis Battle; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving Mrs. Battle are her four sisters: Willie B Carney of Butler, Al; Lettie Mae Strickland of Opelika, Al; Lucy Holcombe of Macon, MS; and Carolyn Rigdon of Macon, MS. and her brother: J. T. Lee of Macon, MS.
