~ Daughter of Martin Schroll and Gustine (Justine) Krueger - Schroll, who were both born in Germany and immigrated to the States in 1870. Emma Louisa wed John David Shrake on the 27th of March, 1897 in Petersburg, Menard County (according to the Illinois Marriage Index, 1851-1900 and the 1900 U.S.Fed.Census shows them as married for three years). ~ The following was taken from the Illinois State Journal, Springfield Illinois (published on the 7th of March, 1947 ... Mrs. Emma L. Shrake,73, died yesterday at 5:35 p.m., following an illness of five months. She was born May 7th,1873 in Springfield and had resided here her entire life. Survivors include her husband, four sons, George E., Jesse D., Sullivan L. and David N.. all of this city; four daughters, Mrs. Mary I. Viola and Mrs. Minnie E. Aber, both of Springfield, Mrs. Bertha L. Borchert of Decatur and Sister Roma of Litchfield, Illinois; two brothers, George E. Schroll of Detroit, Michigan and William B. Schroll of Springfield, Illinois; one sister, Mrs Minnie Luedtke of Chatham, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. ~
