Joyce Irene McGinn, 55, of Sedgwick, died Nov. 21, 2004. Service was Nov. 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Frs. Thomas Wai and Brian Nelson officiating. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick.She was born June 23, 1949, in Wichita, the daughter of Robert E. Johnson and Alvera A. Schoenecker. She attended grade school in Mt. Hope, transferring to Halstead High School where she graduated in 1967. She married Michael "Mick" McGinn on May 3, 1969, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead. He survives. She owned and operated The Hair Cellar in Sedgwick for 30 years until her death. She was a United Way volunteer, charter member of Mod Moms and Sedgwick Site Council, and was a member of the Sedgwick Booster Club, serving as a Fall Festival director for many years. She became a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant and director in 1989 and remained in the position for 15 years. She also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, helping select young women to attend Girls' State. She was involved in many cancer fund-raising benefits and served as a mentor for others struggling wit the disease. She enjoyed helping people, and her family was important to her. She was preceded in death by her father; an infant daughter, Mary Angela McGinn; and a sister, Mary Jane Dealy.Other survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael P. and Susannah M. McGinn of Sedgwick, Scott B. and Beth J. McGinn of Sedgwick, Steven J. and Jill M. McGinn of Newton; daughter, Michelle S. McGinn of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, Sydney R. Johnson of Wichita, Robet E. Johnson II of Tulsa, Okla., Edmond J. Johnson of Sedgwick; sisters, Anita I. Holland of Slidell, La., Patricia A. Ropp of Los Gatos, Calif., Marcella K. Aycock of Sedgwick; mother, Alvera A. Johnson of Sedgwick; and grandchildren, Dillon S. McGinn, Ashton L. McGinn, Kade M. McGinn, Tate J. McGinn. Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, had charge.
