Jacob Wisler Lantz, 72, prominent banker, business man and churchman, of Cedar Springs, passed away at his home late Saturday night, March 16, after having been, ill only a few days with pneumonia. He was a native of Lantz Mills, in Shenandoah County. At the time of his death Mr. Lantz was president of the People's Bank of Rural Retreat, president of Cedar Springs Mercantile Company and manager of the Lobdell Car Wheel Company properties in his section.
Mr. Lantz, who was an outstanding Methodist layman of the Wytheville District, is survived by one sister, Mrs. George W. Giede, Moncure, N. C., and several nephews and nieces. His wife, the former Miss Clara Virginia Keesling, of Cedar Springs, died several years ago.
Funeral services were conducted yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, in Asbury Methodist Church, Cedar Springs, in charge of the pastor, Rev. P. C. Foote, and burial was in Asbury Cemetery.
