Mrs. Mary E. Slein, 55, Gold Star Mother and life resident of Rock County, died Tuesday in Mercy Hospital. She has been in failing health for several months. The former Mary E. McCue, daughter of Peter and Mary Tulley McCue, was born in Rock township, May 1, 1898. She lived there until her marriage to Patrick J. Slein Feb. 2, 1917. in St. Patrick's Church. Her husband Patrick J. Slein, died Feb. 15, 1938 and a son, First Lt. John Joseph Slein, pilot on a B-24 Liberator was shot down over Europe in 1944 during World War II.
