She married Bernard R. Shostrom on Feb. 8, 1936, in Effingham, Il., and he preceded her on July 1, 1963.
She was employed with Assemblies of Kords as a supervisor in Mazon from 1962 until her retirement in 1976.
She married Arthur M. Schaefer of Ottawa on Sept. 8, 1984, and he preceded her on May 24, 1990.
Her lifelong love was watching and caring for birds. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family.
Her hobbies included reading, baking, gardening and dancing.
She was a member of Mazon United Methodist Church in Mazon. She was a 50-year member of Camp 526 Royal Neighbors of America, Order of Eastern Star and M-V-K Senior Citizens.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Leonard) French of Freeport and Bonnie (Fred) Boyle of Nederland, Colo.; a son, Gene V. Shostrom of Streator; 10 grandchildren, Kathy Vint, Jennifer Massucci, Kris Grudis, Karen Zaldivar, Dawn Alvarez, Debra Houston, Brian and Barry French, Dona Lee and Linda Waddell; seven great grandchildren, Robert Knapp, Mitchell and and Rachel Houston; Ryan and Evan Vint, Alyssa and Kaley Zaldivar; a brother-in-law, Donald Grabill of Princeton; a cousin, Ethel Payne of Mazon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two children, Irene Thorson and Russell Shostrom; two sisters, Margaret Ely and Elsie Grabill; a brother, Kenneth Bundy; two nephews David Grabill and Edwin Bundy; a sister Edith, and two brothers, Hugh and Arnold, all in infancy.
