Dessie Harden was born on 9 January 1892 in Cuzzard, Preston County Wv to the late Martin Luther & Huldia Sophia (Michaels) Harden. She was known to many as "Adelia". She first married Orville Ray De Berry in 1911.
They had eight children:
Lawrence Edgar, Sanford, Chancy L, Everett Carl, Elwood Orville, (Elwood twin died at birth), Clarence and James Watson.
After Orville death Dessie went on to marry Emery Chidester on 24 December 1936.
