Benjamin Douglas Baith, age 64, of Mansfield, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Ohio Health Med Central Mansfield Hospital.

He was born June 11, 1950 in Shelby, the son of Benjamin R. and Norma Jean (Wadley) Baith.

He was a 1968 graduate of Crestview High School and attended ATI in Wooster.

Ben served in the Army in Vietnam where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was very active in counseling other Vietnam Veterans through Point Man International Ministries. Sharing his military experiences with younger children was important to Ben and he spoke to many elementary school classes.

He was the owner of Seasons Greens Landscaping in Mansfield. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Mansfield and had previously attended the First Church of God on Park Avenue West. As a young man, he was an avid arrow head hunter.
Because of his laugh and jolly personality and his snow white beard, he was a natural Santa Claus - a role he played for many years at the Richland Mall, Dunkin Jewelers, Shelby Hospital and numerous private parties. Ben enjoyed helping others – many of whom he did not know – as he distributed quilts from Midland Quilt Makers to orphanages in Cambodia, Philippines, Tibet, Dialysis Centers in Mansfield, and the nursery at Ohio Health Med Central Shelby Hospital.

Ben is survived by his wife, Muriel A. (Aurand) Baith, whom he wed on September 2, 1972; Their children: Alyssa (Leigh) Squier of PA, Benjamin Robert (Jennifer) Baith of Shiloh, Julie (Chuck) Holloway of Mansfield; 20 Grandchildren: Heather, Devin, Tyler, and Ryan Holloway; Krista, Hunter, Titus, Levi, Abigail, Gloria Squier; Bailey, Avery, Jacqueline, Sage, Mason, Hayden, Gabriel, Grayson, Braiden, Micah Baith and one to be born in February; A brother: Michael (Bobbie) Baith of Columbus; 2 sisters: Brenda (Bruce) Adams of Akron and Sheila (Robin) Riggs of West Liberty; Father and step mother: Benjamin (Barbara) Baith of Florida; mother-in-law: Muriel Aurand of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his mother and his father-in-law: R. Gault Aurand.
