Loren was born to John and Cleta Bates on July 14, 1942, in Success, MO. He graduated from Houston High School in Houston, MO, and Moler Barber School in Kansas City, MO. Upon completion of his barber training he began working at Chuck s Barber Shop in Lee s Summit, MO. In June of 1969, he opened Loren's Hair Design in the Robandee Shopping Center. He was a member of Grandview Assembly of God where he worked for 40 years as the Director of Christian Education.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a sister Florence Kimrey, a brother John, and twin brother Laurel.
Loren leaves to mourn his passing his wife Judy Bates; daughter Karla and her husband Joe Thompson of Raymore, MO; son Kevin and wife Amy Bates of Nixa, MO; Papa leaves the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Nicollette Thompson and Lorynn, Jaedyn, and Daegan Bates.
