Sarah "Sallie" Haney Hodges was the first child of David Meadow and Elizabeth Haney. She was born in Nacogdoches County, Texas

My Father, Charlie Haney Sr. always spoke of her as Aunt Sallie. I can still hear him talking about her and especially when he attended the Bethel Homecoming. It was held every year at the end of June on a Saturday. I would come with him and I would stand around listening to all the stories everone was telling. I only wished I had paid closer attention to what they were saying. I was looking the girls over and wanting to get into the car and drive around. Although he has been gone since 1975, I still go to the Bethel Homecomings event. I listen now. Lord they love to visit and recall times gone by. I think we should remember where and who we came from and how we got to where we are today.
She was the wife of James Knox "Polk" Hodges. They had eleven children.

Aunt Sallie lived to be 76 years, 7 months and 4 days old.
