AUSTIN--Arthur Raymond Graves, age 84, of Austin, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Brownsdale, Minn., to Robert and Martha (Tuel) Graves. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Evalyn Goslee on Feb. 17, 1946, at the Westminster Presbyterian church in Austin. Evalyn passed away on April 23, 1990. After the war he worked at the George Hormel Co. in the mechanical division for 36 years until his retirement in 1981. On Feb. 14, 2002, he married Marjorie Hermanson at the Crane Chapel in Austin. In his spare time Bill loved woodworking, fishing and cars.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Graves, of Austin, Minn.; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Morem, of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-sons and daughters-in-law: Stephen and Ileen Olson, of Faribault, Minn.; Allen and Bridget Olson, of Owatonna, Minn.; grandchildren: James Morem, Michelle Weston, Stephanie Olson, Angela Tamke, Scott Olson, Brandon Olson, Corie Olson, Trevor Olson; eight great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Glenn Krulish, of Austin, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evalyn; parents; and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2006, at First United Methodist Church with The Reverend Dennis R. Tamke officiating. Interment will be in the Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour before the service.
