Services for Albert Terrell Haney, 78, of Rt. 1 Alto were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Alto Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Bryan and W. T. Kennedy officiating.

Burial was held in the Old Palestine Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home of Rusk.

Mr. Haney died Saturday morning, July 19, in a Palestine hospital following an extended illness.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1901 in Appleby, Texas of Nacogdoches County, and lived in Alto for 30 years.He was the son of David Meadow Haney Jr. and Laura Modena Dupree Haney.

Mr. Haney was a retired butcher and a farmer and a deacon and member of the Alto Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Zeffie Haney of Alto; one son, Orland Haney of Rusk; two daughters, Mrs. Bobbie Channel and Mrs. Nelda Bobbitt, both of Rusk; two sisters, Ida V. Smithart of Nacogdoches and Mrs. Hattie Grimes of Pasadena; a daughter-in-law, Lorene Haney of Nacogdoches; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be J. C. Dover, Larry Dover, Delmer Myers, Jimmy Crosby, Thomas Phillips and Harvey Tobias.

He was a Christian and Deacon at Alto Missionary Baptist Church.

Albert lived to be 78 years, 8 months and 13 days old.
