Plumis D Black was raised at Belleville, OK and attended school there through the 8th grade. He came to Belleville at the age of seven with his parents Jesse and Julia (Holland) Black from Scott Co., Arkansas where he was born Dec 1, 1901 at Boles.

When he was a teenager he dated at one time Nellie Blodget. Nellie recalled, "Doc, as we called him, and I were in the fields hoeing and he told me, ‘one day I'm going to build a home on the south side of the Black's farm below the hill at the edge of the pecan orchard.'" Years later he did just that.

Continuing his education, Plumis stayed with his brother Fines in Okla. City, worked at Black's Hotel (unrelated) and graduated from Hills Business College. It was during this period that Plumis decided to be called P.D.

He started work with Southwestern Bell as a lineman and transferred to Tulsa. Eventually P.D. returned to his family and home place at Belleville.

P.D. and Minnie Carnahan were married July 15, 1935 at Marietta and resided in a small home situated in the middle of Belleville where two children were born: Gale Dean Feb 16, 1937 and Carol Jean Oct 22, 1938.

In 1942 P.D. built his home exactly where he dreamed since a teenager. He purchased the farms of his brothers Bill and Fines reclaiming the original farm of his childhood. He raised cattle, harvested pecans, and dabbled in the stock market. P.D. died May 6, 1966 and was buried at Belleville's Bourland Cemetery.
