Rita was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo and a devoted mother and homemaker. Rita married Carl Schaefer in Fowler on Oct. 18, 1955, and he survives her.
Rita is also survived by her children, Judy (Gary) Becker of Pewamo, Dan (Ann) Schaefer of DeWitt, and Mike (Bev) Schaefer of Fowler. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; Trey ,Tayler (Abbie), Trent, and Terin Becker, Corey, Lainie, and Calvin Schaefer and Mitch Crouch. Brothers, Joe Schafer, Jerry Schafer, Mark (Arleita) Schafer, Tony (Rose) Schafer, and son-in-law, Mark Crouch.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her daughter, Mary Crouch, four sisters and three brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo, Michigan, with Fr. Charlon Mason presiding and burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 3 p.m., and a scripture service at 7 p.m. at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia St., Fowler.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, 1210 W. Saginaw St. Lansing, MI.
