Milly was born in Staunton, Va., but lived most of her life in Manhattan. Many years ago she worked for Harper & Row. She was in her apartment on the East Side on her birthday, September 11, 2001, when the Twin Towers were attacked. Milly was the sixth and final daughter of Tony and Florence Matacia. Her sisters were Anita, Rose, Josephine, Lenore, and Tudy. Milly was the last of the Matacia sisters to pass away, when she was 86 years of age. Milly never married and had no children. She was survived by several nieces and nephews. Milly loved pets and had a dog for most of her life. Her last two dogs were named Cocoa and Dalma. Milly was estranged from most of her relatives and left her estate to the Humane Society when she died.
