Wallace Benton Nieman, 85, of Tunnelton, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at him home. Wallace was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Uniontown, PA, a son of the late Alva W. and Mabel (Forman) Nieman.
He retired in 1997, after working 34 years for Sheidow Bronze, first as manager in the foundry, then as manager for the patterns department Wallace was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and a member of St. Sebastion Catholic Church in Kingwood. He loved to travel, and was a loving husband to his wife of 35 years, Helen (Miller) Nieman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son & spouse, Richard & Ida Nieman of Bruceton Mills; one daughter & spouse, Deborah & Charles Koch of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren Adam and Amber Armstrong, Sara, Cody, Shelby and Skylar Nieman; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Emily Nieman of Morgantown and Coraline Nieman of Akron, OH; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alva Nieman Jr., George Nieman and Hugh Nieman.
Family and friends may call at Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price St., from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Kingwood with Father Arthur Bufogle as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Howesville.
