Betty Lou Hummel (formerly Firstenberger) died May 16, 2011 at Sibley Hospital, Washington, DC, nearby her home in Chevy Chase MD. She was 86. Born January 14, 1925 in St. Louis, MO, Betty Lou was the daughter of William Alfred Firstenberger and Ruth Amelia Gray. She is survived by two sons, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one nephew. Her husband Arthur, brother William and grandson Hans Arthur, preceded her in death. A Memorial Service will be held on at the River Road Unitarian Universalist Church (River Road and Whittier Boulevard) on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Textile Museum, 2320 "S" Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20008.
