John Lawrence Ahern passed away on July 16, 2014 after a long and brave battle with diabetes. Born in Hibbing, Minnesota, John grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from WB Ray High School. He earned a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968 where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. John was proud to be a US Marine and served 8 years in the Marine Reserves. He was a devoted and loving father, brother and friend. John founded, managed and owned for many years, Cardinal Puff's Restaurant and Bar, one of Dallas's favorite watering holes during the 1980's and 90's. He spent the last 15 years as a Ranch Broker in San Antonio. Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Ahern Lloyd and husband Chase; sister, Anne Gariepy and husband Larry; brother, Jim Ahern and wife Caroll; nieces Carie Miller and husband, Gregg; Bonnie Maynard and husband, Blake; nephews, James Ahern and Matt Ahern; great nephews, Grant and Garrett Miller, Mason and Maddox Maynard; ex-wife, Jeannie Terilli and best friend, Rebecca.

An informal gathering to celebrate John's life will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 12 noon at the home of Jim and Caroll Ahern, 757 Grandview Pl., San Antonio, TX 78209.
