David L. Brey, 73, of Gilbertsville, husband of Helen J. (Lingenfelter) Brey, of 42 years, passed away Thursday at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Hiram and Eva (Kline) Brey. David served as a master plumber and co-owner of Banner Associates in Gilbertsville for over 20 years. He was a life member of the Gilbertsville and Sassamansville Firehouses, as well as serving as the bar tender at the Sassamansville Firehouse. David was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved to spend time in his cabin in Wellsboro, PA, and for one week each year the entire family would stay there. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and pop-pop, and received the pop-pop of the year award.

Surviving along with his wife, Helen, are sons, Larry Lucas of Delaware, Sam Lucas husband of Jennifer Giatras of Egg Harbor, NJ; Dennis Lucas, partner of Joanne Mason of Egg Harbor, NJ, and Brian Lucas husband of Laurie of Bechtelsville; daughters, Beth Brey, partner of Glen Cunningham of Gilbertsville; Tammy Schnieder, wife of Paul of Old Zions; Terri Bieber, wife of Bruce of Alburtis, PA, and Candy Gessat, wife of Harley of Summit Hills, PA; sisters, Nancy Haas, wife of Curt of Gilbertsville; Edith Stevens, wife of LeRoy of Pennsburg; Judy Spivey, wife of Jerry of Texas, and Esther Wood, wife of Donald of Arizona; brothers, Hiriam Brey, husband of Doris of Harleysville; sisters-in-law, Shirley Brey and Maryjane Schaffer; son-in-law, Daniel Burdge; many adoring grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Including his parents, David was predeceased by his daughter, Theresa Burdge; his sister, Ellen Shellenberger, and his brothers, Leroy and Bill Brey.

A funeral service will be celebrated Monday, October 29, 8 p.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville. Visitation will be held Monday from 6-7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
