Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Military rites are provided by the Marine Corps Funeral Detail. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jody was born June 1, 1984, in Amarillo to Ronnie and Linda Baca. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 2002 and joined the Marine Corps Reserves in November 2002. He deployed with Scout Platoon, Headquarters Company, Regimental Combat Team 1 to Fallujah, Iraq, serving from 2004 to 2005. Jody retired from the Marines while serving on active duty.
Jody loved his family, fellow Marine brothers and friends. He would have given anyone the shirt off his back.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Baca, in 2001; his grandparents; and an uncle.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Linda Gattis and husband Brad; a sister, Toni Baca; a brother, Derek Baca and wife Cassandra; his nieces and nephews, Mia, Bryan, Gabriel and Anilisia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family suggests memorials be to The United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment, Attn: Charitable Giving Coordinator, 1998 Hill Ave., Quantico, VA 22134.
