Cora was my maternal grandmother the daughter of Joseph Smith Sr. and Amy Adams.

She married Peter Adams, Sr. on January 10, 1935 in St. Charles Borromeo Church in Grand Coteau. In this union they had five children, John Peter Adams, Jr., Irving Joseph Adams, Joseph Cyril Adams, James Larry Adams and Mary Ann Adams. She was one of eleven siblings all of whom preceded her in death they were: Mary Smith Hawkins, Joseph Smith, Jr., Alexander Smith, Ella Smith Little, Cecelia Smith Briscoe, Coralie Smith Broussard (her twin), Clement Smith, Clarence Smith (who preceded her in death by one month), Ashton Smith and Albert "Abram" Smith.
She was survived by her husband, Peter Adams, Sr., all five of her children, seven step-children, Hilda Taylor, Pearl Moore, Eleonora Stewart, Evella Etienne, Edorsey Duplechain, Joseph Calvin Adams and Thelma Davis; six grandchildren (now seven myself), 48 step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren. She died on Saturday, July 25, 1987 in Doctor's Hospital in Opelousas. She was buried at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery on Thursday, July 30, 1987, her daughter, my mother's birthday.
