I P. G. Hays, a registered practicing physician of Searcy County Arkansas. Do hereby certify that I have this day examined applicant G. G. Taylor and found him suffering from gunshot wound of left ankle. Said wound being as he says sustained during the battle of Chicamaga while in the service of the Confederate Army. Said applicant is in my judgement truly disabled from performing manual labor in any of the usual vocations.

Garrison G. Taylor
Garrison G. Taylor was born November 19, 1833. On July 18, 1852, when he was
nineteen years old, he married Elizabeth Atnip. They had eight children, all
born in DeKalb County, Tennessee. They were Mary Frances, Jemima Elizabeth,
William Stevenson (Steve), Martha Jane, Samantha, Mitty Dolly Ann, Benjamin
Garrison, and Derthula.
During the Civil War Garrison served in the 16th Tennessee Regiment in Captain
Perry Adcock's Company for the Confederacy. Sometime during the war he lost a
leg. At the end of the war he returned to Indian Creek where he remained until
the 1870's. During the late 1860's and early 1870's the "Night Riders"
terrorized may of the residents of Indian Creek, including some of the Taylors.
Garrison, wishing to escape the "Night Riders" took his family and joined his
brothers in Searcy County, Arkansas. He remained here until his death on Oct
19, 1910 at the age of seventy-seven years.(Ardia Taylor's book The Taylors)

Garrison G. Taylor
