Evelyn S. Rowe, 85, passed away at the King's Daughters Rehabilitation Center in Staunton on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002.
A native of Pink Hill, N.C., she had been a Peninsula resident since 1940. She retired as a tube maker for Ashville Mica Company in 1977, after 22 years of service. She was a member of Peninsula Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rowe was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Herbert L. Rowe; her daughter, Evelyn Louise Jackson Desco of Hampton and granddaughter, Tonia Marie Owens Cooper.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth "Ann" Carter of Churchville; two brothers, Alton Lee Smith of Greensboro, N.C., and Robert F. Smith of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; three grandsons, Curtis E. Stilley Jr. of Staunton, Daniel W. Hite of Chuchville and Robert C. Owens of Newport News and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Russell Heinrich and Mr. Brian Owens.
