Doris Dye Silvey Willingham at the age of 90 years old peacefully left this earth Sunday, January 11, 2015, and entered the gates of Heaven, where she will join a host of loving family and friends.
She was a resident of East Gadsden for 70 years. She attended Gadsden High School and graduated from Alabama School of Trades with a secretarial degree. She retired from Gadsden Hardware Co., where she had worked for many, many years. She was a longtime member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church, East Gadsden Baptist Church and College Heights Baptist Church. More than anything, she loved her family and having them around her. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch and talking to neighbors. She loved music and loved to sing while creating a loving, Godly family home environment. She was a wonderful Mom, Grandmom and Great-Grandmom, but was better known by most as "Little Mama." She will surely be missed!
She was preceded in death by her father, Raddie M. Dye; mother Allie Pledger Dye; husband, Ralph "Gene" Silvey; husband, Albert W. Willingham; brother, Maurell J. Dye; grandson, Jeffery A Nunn; and chosen grandson, Rory P. Cothran.
She is survived by children, Linda (Kenneth) Nunn, Gary (Kathy) Silvey, Pam (Buddy) McKee; grandsons, Ralph (Connie) Nunn, Tommy (Brandy) Wiemann, Chris Wiemann, Martin "Marty" Silvey, Charles "Chucky" Silvey, Michael Silvey; chosen grandsons, Chris Cothran and Todd Cothran; great-grandsons, Tyler Wiemann, Gage Wiemann and Logan Wiemann; chosen great-grandchildren, Chandler Cothran, Emily Cothran, Hannah Cothran and James Cothran; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Ralph Nunn, Tommy Wiemann, Chris Wiemann, Tyler Wiemann, Kelly Adkison and Desmond Lewis.
Honorary Pallbearers: Byron Pledger, Gene Pledger, Michael Barrett, Emory Barrett and Mickey Stephens
Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. She was laid to rest at Crestwood Cemetery.
