Aleene's first husband was Harold F. Martin (b. February 19, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. d. November 30, 1948, from a hunting accident in Elk County, Pennsylvania.)
Aleene married Donald J. Abbott on September 6, 1952. Don and Al lived in the Brookline neighborhood of the South Hills of Pittsburgh and were members of the Church of the Resurrection where she belonged to the the Christian Mothers and the
Legion of Mary. Don and Aleene celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on September 6, 2002, shortly before Aleene's passing.
Aleene Josephine Abbott passed away on Friday, September 20, 2002, in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. She was the beloved friend, confidante, and wife of Donald J. Abbott; loving mother of Kevin J. (M. Edna) Abbott, and the late Alan J. and Grant J. Abbott; grandmother of Amanda M., Elizabeth A., and Cynthia A. Abbott; and "daughter" of
Jean Lang. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by and Visitation was at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 16216 (Dormont,) on Sunday, September 22, 2002, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection, 1100 Creedmoor Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15226 (Brookline) on Monday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery was private.
