Mother. Composer. She was the composer of "Doubler Marche pour Piano" that was written for Jenny Lind, and "The Bavarian Polka." Her first child was stillborn in 1855. As a result of a very difficult labor, a second birth in 1857 resulted in the death of both mother and child. Helena and her infants were buried here. She was the wife of Polish sculptor Henry Dmochowski-Saunders.

Gravesite Details

The monument was designed and executed by her husband Henry Dmochowski-Saunders. Dmochowski-Saunders, whose busts of Thaddeus Kosciusko and Casimir Pulaski are in the US Capitol Building, worked on his wife's tombstone for eighteen months.
