Joan, 75, of Higgins Lake, Michigan passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Sterling House in Saginaw, Michigan. Joan was the daughter of Okey Allen and Flossie Freda Westbrook.

She married Ellis English, who preceded her in death in 2007. She was a resident of the Higgins Lake area for thirty five years, twenty years full time.

Joan was a teacher in the Waverly School District for twenty years, and taught for two years each in the Corunna School District and the Pontiac School District. She enjoyed fly fishing when she was able.

Survivors include her son and two daughters: Jon, Jan and Kristen English; her grandchildren: Sarah and Eric Shuler; and her sisters: Freda Mullins, Pat Bonnell and Gwen Blesch.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from the Rowley Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Scott Lindenberg officiating.

Cremation took place following the service. Interment took place at a later date next to her parents.

Contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to the ALS Association.

Joan will be remembered as a Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend and Teacher. She is resting peacefully and fly-fishing in Heaven now.
