Elva Iva, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Sees, was born May 21, 1899, at St. Paul, Nebr. She lived in New Mexico for a short time and in Agenda, Kans, for 4 1/2 years before coming to Gordon, Nebr.
She was united in marriage to Charles George Hix, March 3, 1921, at which time they moved to a farm northwest of Gordon. To this union four children were born, Clifford Harold, Alta Mae, Irene Ruth and a son who died in infancy. Later in 1947 they moved to their present home in Gordon.
She was baptized in the Methodist church, and after receiving insturction was received as a member of Our Savior Lutheran church of Gordon by confirmation. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran church of Gordon. She was a faithful Sunday school teacher in each church in which she held membership. She was a loving wife and mother and always was willing to help her neighbors whenever the need arose.
She died March 21, 1964 after a brief illness. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Charles, her son Clifford of Gordon, two daughters, Mrs. Jim Featherston (Alta) of Gordon, Mrs. Ardell Mueller (Irene) of Thurston, Nebr.; two brothers, Otto Sees of Marchfield, Mo. and Albert Sees of Gordon; a sister Mrs. Joe Shupe of Salem, Ore., and five grandsons, Dwight Hix in the navy, Richard Hix, Charles Featherson, Randell and James Mueller and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, parents, a brother Harry Sees, and an infant sister.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon March 25, in the Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. John Mager officiating. Burial was in the Gordon cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Joe Huckfeldt, Milbert Hoizberger, Bland Oldenburg, Walter Flueckinger jr., Louis Suhr, Waldo Roxberg.
