Services held for Victim of fatal Traffic accident

Funeral services for David Williamson, 46, a native of Tehachapi, were held Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the First Baptist Church in Tehachapi. Services were conducted by President John Van Nortwick, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment was at Tehachapi Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Stickel Mortuaries.
Mr. Williamson, for 16 years a shovel operator at Monolith, lived at 212 West I Street with, his wife Lorraine and six of his eight children: daughters, Faye, Melinda and Theya, and sons David, Edward and James. Daughters Leatta Williamson and Mrs. Dianna McQueen live in Southgate.
He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Williamson, Tehachapi; a brother, Richard Williamson of Eureka; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Dennison of Tehachapi; and three half sisters, Mrs. Alberta Guymon and Mrs. Dollie Hurst of Utah and Mrs. Myrtle Love of Aameda; and one grandson.
Williamson was killed in Rosamond Saturday night, Nov. 11, when he was crossing U.S. Highway 6 on foot. According to California Highway Patrolmen R. L. White and H. R. Niehaus, he crossed in front of Mrs. Mickie Houfek, 30 of Bakersfield, who was driving south on the highway. She stated that when she saw the victim run in front of her, she put on the brakes, pulling to the right, but could not avoid hitting him.
A second car, driven by Anthony G. Julian, 57, of Rosamond, passed Mrs. Houfek's car and struck the body. Julian reported that he thought Mrs. Houfek was stopping to park and did not realize she was taking evasive action to avoid a pedestrian.
The CHP report indicated Mr. Williamson, wearing dark working clothes, attempted to cross a poorly lighted street where there was no. cross walk. No charges were filed against the drivers.
