Sylvia J. Abney, a retired supervisor for St. Tammany Parish government, died Saturday of cancer at Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was 75. Mrs. Abney was a lifelong resident of Slidell. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Survivors include three sons, Norman W., Samuel and Bruce H. Abney; a daughter, Amelia A. "Bootsie" Nores; two brothers, Ernest Jemison of Oklahoma and Walter Jemison of Michigan; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
