Alfred H. Giermann, Bloomington's first fire inspector, died at 7:52 PM Tuesday at Mennonite Hospital.

Mr. Giermann, 86, of 101 E. McArthur Ave became the city's first fire inspector in the fall of of 1932 and held that position until he retired in 1947.

Following retirement, he worked as a deputy state fire marshal.

Mr Giermann was born April 23, 1894 in Bloomington to Ernest and Adeline Woizeski. He married Mae Ling December 12, 1917 in Bloomington. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Beverly Walters, East Peoria, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A son, a daughter and a sister preceded him in death.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Louis E.Davis Post American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I.

A wood-working hobbyist, Mr. Giermann was a volunteer worker in the building of Faith Lutheran Church, Woodland Park, CO.
